OK for those who would like to learn more of what the VAM 23 looks like up close, oh yeah, these are what REAL microscope images look like.

Thanks to Paul

....... and people need to realize that I paid close to $1000 for my close-up scope,....
Do I expect others to spend that much,....... definitely not!

So as hard as you may try, you most likely will not get images this crisp :ugeek:

Mama told me if I wanted to buy a high-end microscope I could (yes, I am talking about the 4 figure ones). I am looking at a couple of them which go from 10x to 500x. The questions I have are what would be the best resolution to get, or do you have a model you can suggest?

I would sink that money into a DRLS with a macro lens, you can take the best images with that. It's what I use. Lighting and focus are usually most people's issues, not so much the equipment.

I have not used any heavy magnification to ID VAMs, basically my nekkid eye and a 5/10 loupe. Now I could not ID the cent RPM I received from CONECA until I got a small cell phone microscope, obviously not perfect, but really helped and I could finally see what it was.

Now my biggest complaint is with digital microscopes, the heavy pixilation generally obscures the detail you are trying to see, so what is the point. I think high end optics are great if you are doing this professionally, but for me, it just does not seem worth the cost, but hey if you want a new toy buy it, you should see the Tablet vehicle analyzer I just bought, hehehee.

Here is one other thing, I have some images of two Morgans that I had run on a high end Keyence Imager and Measuring microscope. It uses laser scanning and High Res imaging, in fact we found out that between two different mints, there was .001 difference in "squeeze" thickness. If my "non Rona" fever drops, I will put them up 2night.

Hope you feel better soon. I had a nasty (non Rona) cold for a full week in early March.
