Hi everyone,I was wondering if this is some kind of an error, toning or what made this 1993 D Jefferson nickel look like this?

Your coin is not an error. It looks like paint, stain or some type of environmental damage from where I sit.

P.S. good close-up pictures though! 👍🏻
