1974 Kennedy Half Dollar weight only10.7grams

#1 Unread post by Coineach »

this 1974 Kennedy half weighs 10.7 grams. I heard somewhere that this is a foreign planchet. Possibly from Philippines or Liberia.

I have also measured it. Diameter is 30.4 mm. Thickness 2 mm

That is close to what Red Book says it should be. Diameter 30.6. Thickness 2.15

Any additional suggestions appreciated

This is not a Foreign Planchet . It's a slightly lower weight but within tolerance since it's so worn and also damaged .

I just searched my list of foreign coinage that the US mint has produced for the Philippines and Liberia .......

It's not possible for this to be a foreign planchet....

This coin shows moderate to heavy damage with environmental issues.
