Please Read Before Posting A Topic

In the title please put date, denomination and type of coin design and a brief on what you are asking about.
In example: "1995 Lincoln Cent Missing 5" or "2010 Roosevelt Dime With a Line inside the rim".

All of this helps discern the different topics from each other and is much less confusing to members who want to help.
Topic titles like "how did this happen" or "help" often get ignored and lost in the confusion.

2011 new penny with Lincoln Memorial stamped over shield

#1 Unread post by j4bs4209333 »

Hi I was hoping someone could help me out and tell me if this coin is real. It's a 2011 penny with the Lincoln Memorial stamped on top of the Union shield. It's very hard to see in the picture, but it's clear as day in person. The front of the coin looks normal, nothing noticeably wrong. I would like to believe it's real, but I think they stopped the Lincoln Memorial pennies in 2010, so I'm not sure how that could have happened. Thanks in advance for any input,

When two coins are pressed together, their outer faces get messed up. Each inside face leaves a reversed impression on the other. This is most likely what you have. If you see letters in reverse on it, this is also a quick indicator it is what we call a "vice coin" (as in two coins in a vice being squeezed together).
