1973 s DDO
Hello everyone,
I hope you are having a great day. Thank you for your advise regarding the 1979 p DDO penny, I will definitely do as you mentioned and I will keep you posted.
I have another one, please take a look at this 1973s penny, everything on the coin matched the 1973s DDO proof penny, is there a way to tell this penny was a proof penny at some point in its life or it could simply be business strike penny that looks exactly like the proof one ?
I respect your opinions as long as you don’t blindly comment MD :) thank you

Re: 1973 s DDO
I don't see any doubling here . I also would say it was struck in San Francisco but not Proof . Good Luck....

Re: 1973 s DDO
Ok let me help you see what I see,
1st photo is a normal 1973 s graded at PCGS.
2nd photo is the 1973 s proof DDO.
3rd photo is the penny In question.
Please take a look at the thickness on the bottom of the numbers specially the 97 on the proof penny and my penny VS. the normal penny.
I will definitely upload close up photos tonight.
Thank you

Re: 1973 s DDO
Die markers don't mean anything unless the coin was struck with a doubled die, this coin was not struck with a doubled die. Proof is a coin struck by a die with a special finish so this coin was never a proof and is not a proof. The San Francisco Mint struck business strike coins up to 1974 so an S mint mark wouldn't mean it's a proof or a proof at one time. Even if it was an impaired proof it wouldn't matter because the coin isn't doubled and there's no major doubled dies for a 74 S proof.
One other thing, comments like this "I respect your opinions as long as you don’t blindly comment" are not tolerated in this group. You don't dictate how people comment in this group. Also we don't want nor need comparison images of other coins.
Thanks

I agree with Daniel here. Not a proof never was a proof, not a doubled die. Just a normal every day circulated 1973 S

Re: 1973 s DDO
I'm thinking impaired proof because of the shape of the S, but no added value and not the DDO
