:welcome:
Possible "Die Scratch" across the word 'Lakes'.......
In your images the mark between the 2 zeros looks to be circulation damage.....
Can you post a close-up image of the pine trees to the right of lakes please

:eureka:
Remember to always post a full coin picture of the obverse and reverse with your post

Re: 2005 P Minnesota quarter
Thank you Paul, I will remember the full Obv. and Rev. shots. All the marks on the coin seem to under whats struck. The zeros area marks don't seem to be after mint because the zeros are perfect no scratch. Also the middle of 3rd zero has a mark in the center. How does that happen? I'm not trying to argue or be difficult, I just want to learn and understand, again thank you.

Re: 2005 P Minnesota quarter
With the letters being incuse here it could easily be scratched like this and that is what this is. A strike through would be into the bottom of the letter because of the 100 plus tons of pressure used.

Paul, That line you are pointing at in the last pic. goes all the way into the tree and the top of the fishing pole. If you follow it the other way it goes through the trees and to the rim.

Re: 2005 P Minnesota quarter
I gotcha Daniel, if it were properly imaged casting a shadow, it will be much easier to describe as a scratch.

Re: 2005 P Minnesota quarter
Paul and Daniel, what is a "properly imaged casting a shadow" ? If there is instructions on how or what it is, point me in the right direction, please. The pictures I took look great on my computer, once loaded on your site I, myself do not think they are that good. Do either one of you know if images should be taken at a different or certain resolution? Any input would be helpful, ya know being Coin Help U and all. Thank you for your time and patience with a newbie.

Re: 2005 P Minnesota quarter
It's all about lighting, lighting, lighting.......
And this is where, the hundreds and hundreds of new microscope users are making their mistakes. Just spend 2 minutes on :ebay:
:eureka:
Proper illumination is the key to a good image. Coins such as yours need to have their light source at an extreme angle to the coin, this will make any raised or depressed area, "POP" in the image. Having shadows also helps in the diagnostic capabilities for Daniel and I.

Re: 2005 P Minnesota quarter
I truly appreciate your input, thank you so much Paul. I did spend time with the pictures after I took them to make sure you guys could see them. I will try other avenues with this picture taking endeavor. I will say with the angles on a microscope it puts shadows and illusions that really aren't there. I search with a 10x loop if I see something then go to microscope. If you know of something or what works for you guys, I'd appreciate the info. Have a great day!

Paul, again I thank you. Your help and your time that you spent means a great deal! The picture you posted helps immensely. Most everything I see that's posted is not very helpful to you guys. I will do my best.
