1960 D penny with mark on the 9

#1 Unread post by Scpeyton31 »

Hello,

This is my first time posting, so forgive me if I do something incorrect. 15 years ago I was fortunate to be working at a bank when a lady brought in some of her grandmother's coins, still wrapped in what appeared to be the proper coin wrappings for the time. On my break, I bought those coins from the bank, put them in a box, and purposely forgot about it. I am just now pulling them out to check them.

I found two particular looking 1960 D pennies, where the 9 looks weird to me. I haven't been able to find anything about it online. I am trying to determine what my next step should be. I can't tell if it's a true error or not. I did look through a hundred 1960s before finding this.

If you have any advice, I would appreciate it.

I know it's difficult but can I see a close up please. It could be a "DIE Chip". Hard to say.
