1897 Indian Head 1C Struck-in Retained Wire

#1 Unread post by adikora »

Hello and greetings from Switzerland, I hope everyone is doing fine.
Here is a 1897 Indian Head 1C Struck-in Retained Wire. Needless to say that at some point it was mounted in jewelry. On the obverse there is a die break running along the N/S axis. On the reverse of the coin you can see the twisted retained piece of wire.
Since it is a damaged coin, should I keep as a souvenir or could anybody out in the web be interested in such a piece?
Any comment or opinion/suggestion would be highly appreciated. Thank you

Very difficult to tell from the pictures. Is the line going across the Indian's face a raised "strip" along its length, or is it a micro canyon with its sides raised above the coin's surface?

This is scratched, cut marks into the coin and is damage but not a strike through.
