Interesting but looks more like a stamp or something.

Do you know what all the correct mint marks are for this strike?

My feeling is that the "M" was there all along. I am guessing that something else was there as well. But instead of them just over-punching the "BN", they first removed a previous mark creating a rectangular depression on the die. Then they added "BN" . The 1863 50 centesimi has a similar mintmark

I do not know all the markings for this coin. The NGC website has some info

I was hoping community member Italycoins would have chimed in by now in hopes of providing additional information. However, to the best of my knowledge, the mint marks you are seeing on this coin are standard (see following, courtesy of numista), with the exception of an inverted BN (rare):

Mint marks:
M and BN within a rectangle for Milan (km# 13.1)
T and BN within a rectangle for Turin(km# 13.2)

The 50 centesimi has the same mint marks with an addtional one:

N and BN within a rectangle for Naples

I've seen a lot of these coins but never remembered the mint mark looking like this. I learned something new that I should have already known. lol
