Old farm house finds

#1 Unread post by Nolifeking »

Well I finally got back out metal detecting. Older farmhouse from the 1800's that a friend's family owns. I didn't hit the jackpot, but I did find a couple neat ones. Here's what I got. An older belt buckle and a 1919 wheatie.

I wish I could date the buckle, but I can't find anything on it. It's pretty thin metal. Probably stamped. My guess its pre 1950 and I'm thinking it was a kid's buckle maybe.

It could have been a kid's buckle and it looks like it's made of pot metal. However, the deer is very detailed for a kids out-fit ot costume.

There are a couple on this site that have similar designs. Unfortunatly it looks like a auction type forum so there is no contact but if you find any that might be close you can probably contact the seller who might be able to give you some more info.

If you haven't already try Goggling "buck belt buckle" or "elk belt buckle" and looking through the images section. I saw some that were pretty similar but nothing exact. Good luck dating it!
