Clad dime error?

#1 Unread post by moochy76 »

I have 2 clas dimes and a clad quarter that seem to have air bubbles trapped between the clad layers. Not sure if someone altered them somehow or it is indeed a mint error. These coins came from different locations at different times. Any input on it would be appreciated. I can provide a pic if necesssary.

Hello and welcome to the forum. The only thing I can think of is a cud, if it's along the rim. Of course, there's such a thing as bubble laminations. Post us a picture, and we can help you further.

I've found a dime that might be similar to what you are talking about. Here is the link to the post http://coinauctionshelp.com/TPGS_FORUM/ ... f=9&t=1795

Maybe it could help somehow?

Here is the pics that i have of the dime. Actuall i have 3 of them and they are all 1967. I have a quarter with the same issue as well but the date is different with that. It pretty much looks like the one linked to this post. Any ideas what may have caused it. If you look and maybe get a good dime out as a reference the "bubble" on the front is in a different place on the back.

Agreed! I would say that heat was applied to the coin post-mint.
