Question about a penny
Hi,
I recently found this penny and was hoping someone could give me an idea of its value. I think it might be a mint error, the reverse is partially visible on the obverse. I hope the picture is clear enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Question about a penny
The photo you post you can not even see the coin in question. You need to better photos of the coin, both obverse and reverse, cropped. Along with close phots of the area in question.

Re: Question about a penny
Sorry, hopefully this photo is clearer, it's the obverse of a 1974 penny.

Re: Question about a penny
I agree and we ask that coins be removed from holders, when possible, to be imaged for this forum. Thanks

Re: Question about a penny
Note the area in question is raised up off of the surface. This shows glue or some other substance on the surface of a normal penny. Note the image Monticello and wording in that glue is backwards. This shows another penny was stuck to the first with glue and when they were separated the backwards image was left behind.

Re: Question about a penny
I am sorry but I don’t get glue being on a coin as cool or neat. I hear comments like that and to me it looks horrible. When I see dried glue on something, when it’s not supposed to be, that is not positive.
And the first thing I think is someone was trying to create a fake error to fool someone. Not good if that’s the case, and I am not saying anyone here is guilty just that in the past someone did this then someone thought it worthy of the 2x2 and staples.

Re: Question about a penny
The PCGS coin base is a better place to find more accurate prices and whatnot... Cointrackers, I've found, doesn't always have the greatest info

Re: Question about a penny
A coin with glue stuck to it would not be listed in an online database.

I agree 100%. All you have is a damaged coin

Re: Question about a penny
And why I turn off commenting, bad info on cointrackers.com and to recommend that on a damaged coin.
