Someone may have shot it with a BB . . . I have a 1937 Wheat Penny with 3 BB shot marks on the coin (Not through the coin, but holed)

This looks like someone used a nail punch and punch it.
A BB is not strong enough to do that much damage.
And usually when a coin has a hole in it someone punched a hole in it for a necklace.

I agree with Paul, we need REV pics.

A BB hole would be rounded and likely not as deep (my juvenile self enjoyed using pennies, as well as other things, to see how powerful different BB guns were😜). There is probably a corresponding bump on the REV side. Almost certainly post mint damage, the REV image will make it easier to tell.

The front does look like it was hit with a punch or even a crude square nail which which would be more contemporary to the cent itself.
