This is all I know . Acetone won’t hurt a silver or gold coin and it will dissolve many impurities that are sitting on the surface, like dirt and PVC residue. It will not affect toning (patina) or remove metal from the coin. You only need to rinse the coin in cool, clear water after briefly soaking the coin in acetone. Give it a try .

Acetone cannot meddle with the metal of your medal/coin. I have used it on many hundreds of coins over the last 10 years. The only precaution I have ever heard concerning it is allegedly if you soak a penny in acetone in direct sunlight that a slightly pink hue can occur. I have never seen this myself most likely because I have no reason to seek out direct sunlight when soaking or dipping my coins.

Here is my go to source for cleaning (oops) conserving coins.

I can't be sure based on the images, looks like a 505/50 chance that I would not take being a circulated coin.
