in roll search. However, it looks polished. Why on earth would anyone polish a wheat penny? I have went through hundreds of wheats. Never seen a polished one. Would it com back "details" polished?

That is a very shocking discovery to find this in circulation . . . It's unlikely to find this as a fake based on the polishing & wear

The reason why someone polished it is to keep the date & details still showing as much as possible . . . (My 1910 Wheat Penny I got as a Christmas Gift is also polished, but I don't know where it is . . .)

I do believe the coin to be fake, fakes are cleaned and polished to hide their imperfections and make them more difficult to detect.

Why not compare your specimen to the real ones on PCGS or NGC websites?

Could be fake, could be legit, mintmark placement looks right to me, but that is just my 2 cents

Prolly should get it graded as to determine whether it is legit, as a 14D that is graded as legit will go for significantly more than a raw coin that is questionable

worst case, you loose 35 plus shipping, but best case, you have a legit 14 D with G/VG details, which is between 100 and 200

Closer pics needed please.

Here are the 6 known varieties. A simple transparency overlay will show if it fits one or not.

Weight would be good also.
