Don't Buy Bank Wrapped Rolls Of Morgan Dollars. Here's Why.

#1 Unread post by Daniel »

You never want to buy bank wrapped or so-called unsearched Morgan Dollar rolls at ebay. You see these rolls often and they're not bank rolled but hand rolled and crimped at the seller's place of business. The paper is often roughed up, dates and waxed to make them appear old and some have a bank or some business on the wrapper. You will also notice they will use a CC reverse on on or both ends and if on one end they will use the obverse of a 1893 or an 1889 so people think there's potentially a rare uncirculated CC in the roll.

It's all a sham and my videos below show you how they do these rolls, where they get the coins and how they have their feedback on ebay edited.

Love your videos BTW.
I was changing TV channels to WGN out of Chicago this morning and came across what I guess a 30 minute coin show ad. usually they have an AARP medicare infomercial running.
I only caught a few minutes and didn't write down the name of the so called coin shop.
he was selling a roll of Morgan's with a CC ender and I believe a 1884 on the other end, selling for $1799.10 LOL. pitch was that there could be rare CC's in roll worth $100000+ and you were paying less then $100 per coin LOL.
Not sure if you or others have seen that infomercial.

Thank you for the warning Daniel, I would be skeptical of doing that for sure!! However, I've seen other YouTubers do it? and post a video on it? Guess the were just board and needed some content? And of course they were all common dates, many of the same. Most of them were in decent shape. But Point taken. thank you!

But they're not lying and saying it's an original roll with salted end coins.

Ye olde CC on the ends trick, culls in the middle. "There's a sucker born every minute." PT Barnum.

Its just paper holding 10-20 coins together, You don't want to see what's inside before you buy ? If they were honest they would unwrap the coins and show them to you.

I really can't believe people fall for these tricks in 2021.

PT Barnum didn't say that, but I agree with the rest.

"There's a sucker born every minute" is a phrase closely associated with P. T. Barnum, an American showman of the mid-19th century, although there is no evidence that he actually said it. Early examples of its use are found among gamblers and confidence tricksters.

Barnum's biographer Arthur H. Saxon tried to track down when Barnum had uttered this phrase but was unable to verify it. According to Saxon, "There's no contemporary account of it, or even any suggestion that the word 'sucker' was used in the derogatory sense in his day. Barnum was just not the type to disparage his patrons."

My Uncle Paul would love this post with the tootsie pop lol, He was a Willy Wonka Sales Rep for 50 years, and he still is today and he's in his 80's. I remember being 10-13 and he would bring bags full of Wonka Oddities to my house. Needless to say, I had a very good Dentist or I would have been in trouble. I ate candy that wasn't even seen before like test production samples. Crazy stuff just like the movie

He also has a 1893-O Morgan that's completely trashed and he still thinks it will be valuable one day. Hard to tell him it's just junk whenever I see him.
