While searching the latest Penny box, I fund a few 1969 D's. In the past I had never checked them for the no FG as I didn't know about them. This time I remembered Daniel's video on his YouTube channel (coinhelpu) on this subject. This time I not only checked the 69 D's that just found, but also the two tube I had saved. When it was all done, I had what I think are 2 1969 D's no FG. I have attempted to take photos of them but they don't come out right (no not in a way that would make you think there was a FG there). When I finally get photos to come out right, how many angles should I take plus how much magnification should I use on a few of the shots? I know that in the condition they are in, they may be worth at tops is 25-30 dollars (nothing to write home about).

Re: 1969 -D
I'll see if I can't get some half way decent photos of them, and will post them ether on the 8th or the 9th. How many different angles do you suggest of the coins in question?
Thanks

Re: 1969 -D
Technically,......... if it's imaged properly, I only need one.
..... Keep in mind, "lighting" is the key here.......
hugeeyes :eureka:
.... Having the 'light source' at an extreme angle to the coins surface is necessary.

Re: 1969 -D
Download the magnifier optical eyeglass app. I found it to be a great tool for taking pictures up close. It's always helpful to edit the pics PicsArt app. I use PicsArt to cut picture so I can submit here. Very easy and simple!
Good luck

Re: 1969 -D
Flat shiny stuff is hard to get good pics of. Paul said a ton, lighting is key. Once you get the camera setup where up want it, I am assuming you are using a tripod and not holding it lighting is much easier. Sometimes it is better to lower the light and use a flashlight to move it around looking at the window to see if you can high light the area you are trying to highlight. Be sure you move the coin at least on 90's and take a shot at each angle. But you only need to post the best full front and the back of the coin then the pictures of what our want to show. We could probably tell you if you have the no FG just by looking at good quality full-frame reverse pictures. That would be very cool if you had a couple or at least one of the two no FG'. I hope you do.

Re: 1969 -D
I finally got my camera and lights set up. Yes I do use a tripod when I take photos of coins. On the first coin I did find a very small amount of the upper bar on F. As soon as I can find the second 1969 D cent I will take some photos of it to try to verify it as a no FG using your lighting suggestion. The coins were both in flips and together. As the saying goes "I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body". Oh and thank Paul about the lighting angles, it really made a big difference.
