I really can't figure out what goes though a graders mind when (He/She/They) look at a coin. I have been trying to get my coin area all squared away (set up better), cataloging my coins etc... I opened a box in which there were approx. 15 ANACS graded Peace Dollars which were sent out way back in 2013. I had forgotten about them with all that has been going on here. The part that I find funny and confusing is how dose coin graded at MS62 get a Details, Polished. OK, maybe I am over thinking this, but isn't MS for uncirculated coins? If it was or is polished can it really be MS?
On another note, I posted about a Morgan Dollar I don't remember buying, and some asked if I had checked for VAMs. I did not for that coin. I did check the already graded Peace Dollars. Keep in mind they were graded be for I knew anything about VAMs. I was shocked that my 1922 EF45 goes from about 30 dollars with out the VAM and with the VAM (VAM 5B TDR Wing Break ( listed as top 50)) it runs between 150 - 160 dollars. With the way these TPGs are acting do I dare risk the chance?
Quick note: All the peace dollars were purchased at a local auction at 35 dollars for all 15.

A mint state coin is considered uncirculated because it has no wear from circulation so cleaning doesn't circulate the coin nor removed metal as circulation would.

Re: TPGs grading are really confusing on what they are doing
Very nice group from the auction. Hard to beat $2.34 each for them.
It does help to differentiate between a coin that hasn't been messed with or have environmental issues and keeps the same coin from being resubmitted over and over again by different owners.
I don't know whether they come back in "body bags" anymore. But I use to hear a lot of complaints from collectors where a coin wasn't encapsulated and came back in a plastic bag. (Hence the "body bag" term.) I think it is better, overall to at least, to put them in a slab. Otherwise, potentially valuable coins wouldn't have ended up being slabbed (and of course the grading companies couldn't collect their fees).
