I was getting set to start searching the nickels I have. Because it has been so long, I decided to recheck the ones I had already put into coin tubes. While going down the PCGS list I ran into a situation which I am unsure about, or for that matter why. I know that in 1942, Philadelphia minted both the type 1 and type 2, with the type 1 being the normal nickel and type 2 being the silver nickel with the large P over the Monticello building. In 1942 Denver did not mint any silver nickels ( due to Denver minting their quota for the year before the change to silver) and thus only has the D to the right side of the building which PCGS lists. Now, the thing I do not under stand, is why did they not list the 1942 type 2, 1943,1944 and 1945 silver nickels from any mint. What am I missing seeing the next nickel listed is 1946? Do they not consider the silver nickels as currency or hold no value over melt? If someone is trying to put a complete set together (date, mint mark) where does the silver nickels fall in this set, or is it considered a complete set with out the silver? Could someone please enlighten me on this?
As Always all comments are welcome be they good, bad or indifferent.

Re: PCGS and Unlisted Nickels
The Type 2 silver nickels are listed in price guides so not sure what you're referring to here. Sorry

Re: PCGS and Unlisted Nickels
When I first tried to look up the 1942 thru 1945 silver nickels, they only listed the 1942 type 1 along with 1942 D (1942-D/D D/ Horizontal D FS-501 (FS-027).
Next they had listed the 1946 thru 1950 D. I never considered that after listing the 1950 D, they would then list the Silver nickels on the second half of that page. I basically never thought to go beyond the 1950 D to look. When bigphish68 pointed out they were listed further down I went back and looked what was listed after the 1950 D. That is when I found them. Thanks to bigphish68.
