What did I just find/noticed in this 2.23 grams 1953 penny?

#1 Unread post by Imfamouserrors »

Hello, hope everyones week started well and will get better,I noticed some kind of glitter or tiny confetti I should say, because is not shiny,in a 1953 penny I rubbed it gently with my thumb, and the more that I rubbed the more visible it was,so I put it under the camera and right away I saw it has some kind of humor carttoon (adult cartoons)kind of designs.it was easy to see how detailed and weird, funny, creepy it is,I draw and paint myself that's how I could tell.before I confuce you more, this coin has hidden adult humor incorporated into the normal coin design, looks really similar to some 1950s cartoons called "washaw",or 1960s magazines.does anyone knows anything about it? Was a special edition or someone just poured their talent into this coin?🤔

Sorry but I'm not seeing anything. As an artist, maybe you have an extremely creative mind, especially when it comes to visual perception?
Any deviation, from the die the mint created, would be considered Post Mint Damage.

And/Or....... Pareidolia, a phenomenon that causes people to see patterns in a random stimulus.

Wikipedia LINK - Pareidolia which says:
"Pareidolia (/pærɪˈdoʊliə/ parr-i-DOH-lee-ə) is the tendency to interpret a vague stimulus as something known to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, seeing faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music."

I agree, the US mint didn't put secret things on coins and in the design. The green is oxidized copper and common on coins, the fact it smears proves it is also post mint so not from the mint.

Yeah i am really creative, that must be it,what about the second lines in the date and libert, could it be a doubled die? Also it being over weight 3.23 grams could it possibly be a foreign planchet from when USA used to mint coins for other countries?

You coin is a normal circulated coin with some oxidation. I suggest you get a better set of scales or send this coin to Paul if it weighs that light. It looks normal size in the images and should weigh 3 grams or so. Wexlers doubled die website is a great place to learn about doubled dies and what they look like.

Infamouserrors, the weight is within mint tolerances. To me any lines on the date or LIBERT look like hits from PSD.

There is a discrepancy between your title (2.23 grams) and the weight you gave on an internal reply (3.23 grams), but did mention "overweight". I almost didn't catch that myself.
