Are Coin Shows Dead?

#1 Unread post by Daniel » Thu Jul 04, 2019 7:38 am

You hear about low attendance and less dealers at coin shows but does that mean they're dead and irrelevant? Is it time to panic and is this a result of changes in the market place due to self sell websites like ebay and social media? I explore those my latest video.

It's a tough situation if you are relying on the hobby for your lively hood. Our local show (in SE Florida) is contemplating changing from the week after the FUN show to some time in June. Personally that sounds like the ultimate fiasco since northern residents/visitors have returned home by then. Times may be achangin' but survival is probably some combination of both online and some type of "brick and mortar" sales.
The internet is both a blessing and a curse at the same time.
Sounds like a similar predicament that news organizations faced with competition from the internet. It was a matter of adapting a new business model to produce income.
