So when is a 22-D considered "Weak"?

#1 Unread post by Funky Strike »

Hello All - Funkmeister back from another hunt!

This time I have found an elusive 1922-D Lincoln Cent

It's not a high grade coin and the mint mark is worn - I know there are die pairs to tell when a 1922-D is a "No-D" - but what about a weak D?

Let me know what you think - thanks again for your time and expertise!

Michael - The Funkmeister!

I would say that it's slightly worn on the Mint mark and weak.

Likely a 'Weak' D, but this specimen is in very good shape for a 20s Wheat Cent, let alone a Mintmark to boot as well . . .

Have you seen this resource:

http://www.lincolncentresource.com/1922 ... eties.html

There are countless other resources on this topic.

The highly sought after one is die pair #2, which I don't believe you have. Check the markers for the others and see what you might have! Good luck, Funkmeister!

Best,
Jeff

P.S. The only reason I "know" anything about this topic is because it was one of the first posts I made to this site, shortly after I joined:

It's a nice coin but I wouldn't consider this a Weak D.
