Re: Toner Tuesday: Show Your Colors!
Are the teeners a different obverse die than the 1940s/50s ones? If memory serves, I think I once read the dates of when master dies were changed with Lincoln pennies. I know by looking at a 1968 and then later Lincooln penny OBV you can see an obvious difference. But I don't remember the other one...

Welcome to the forum. We are glad you are here :D See all of the scratches you introduced to the coin? This is exactly what coin collectors look for to know a coin had been cleaned and therefore devalued. Another thing that coin collectors would notice is the coloring has been altered. How about a twist on this? Here is a fake photographed in sunlight to show how easy these can be, sometimes, to tell they are fake. This is a cast copy as shown by the pitted surface. But in hand the pits do not show up well unless lit like this. In an album this would pass non-careful inspection: 1...

Muchas arigato amigo! I appreciate the clarification. Boy that y in Sytler sure is a mess! The spelling meant it had to be a vowel (or like a vowel), but I totally missed it could be a y. I never would have seen that y as an n. If handwritten I also may have seen it as a malformed h, but that made n...

This one almost went into the Coin Bucket but something made me look closer. Could this be some sort of improper annealing, a plating error or defective planchet? Or, just a rough life? We'll have to agree to disagree, the graders look at coins for seconds and will not note errors or varieties unless you point them out and pay extra for the few seconds it takes to see that the error is there. While their are true grading experts in varieties they are not at TPGs, they are at CONEC...
