eBay isn’t a bad place to buy unless the coins are ungraded or you watch out for counterfeits or misleading auctions for supposed mint errors.

Re: 1968 Lincoln Cent
The hobby isn't dying and people who are asking that are in a minute minority who's opinion is greatly exaggerated because something didn't work out in their favor. It's better for you to study the coin minting process, error images, etc instead of holding people to a higher standard of teaching you...

Re: Curious about this unique find..
You're setting yourself up for failure and a huge disappointment jumping to conclusions like this. I recommend looking up doubled struck coins and coin struck over by an other coin die. It's not a life changing coin even if your coin was one of these. It's so important to do research and educate you...

Re: 1968 Lincoln Cent
If you look at any scratch or gouge with this much magnification you will see grooves, think glacial grooves. It also going to depend on what gouged your coin, but this didn't happen at the mint. Gouges in the die would be raised areas on the coin.

Looks like a partial or near clipped planchet. My recommendation is examining coins in higher grades to see the differences. It’s usually the amount of contact marks and where they’re at than anything else.

Congratulations! A very nice find! I don't think it would hurt to send it to ANACS, that would give you a net grade and help preserve it.

For one it's impossible to have an authentic coin made like this, it can't happen at the US Mint. You got to understand the coin minting process and that there's only one two tailed nickel ever created during the US Mint history.
