Not worth a premium over face value. The pics appear to show what is sometimes calked a "struck through grease" error. Its common. Polish or grease was in the lettering of the dies and so no impression was made on the coin when pressed.

My colonials more then any others give me thoughts like that :D I have much older coins (say 2k years old) but something about the American colonials just brings out that feeling even more.. Your 1968 is not a proof, even circulated proofs don't look like this coin, and if you want to find a No S look in proof sets not pocket change or rolls.

Pics make it look like a type of feeder finger gouges to me.
Scroll down and look through the pics - you will see coins with similar marks passing through letters like your 0.
