Re: 1974 D Roosevelt Dime missing the US-U + doubling
Thank you,
Video is not necessary, what you are seeing is common die plugging…
Looking closely at your images, this coin also looks to have undergone some type of compression,
.....resulting in the flattening of the main device on the obverse and the semicircular indentation on the reverse.

Not sure about the Ear but I think the doubling you see might be just " Die Deterioration Doubling " .

Minting jargon
My interest in coins started when someone gave me a bunch of buffalo nickels, also know as Indian heads(as I found out later through Numismatics stuff). This was back in April 2020. So I'm trying to purchase coins on ebay and Amazon. I just can't figure out what the it means if the coin was "fi...

Re: 1970 S Nickel
No, the mint produced business strike coins with an S mint mark in 1970. So this is normal.

Re: 1970 S Nickel
I agree. As a kid I used to save them just b/c they had an S mint mark (1968, 1969, and 1970 had S mint circulation strikes). And that was when a nickel would buy something...so I lost money keeping them stored away for the past 50 years LOL!

Re: 1982 penny 2.5 grams is this the real deal?
Welcome. I’m not even close to an expert, but it appears you have 2 different coins posted? One large and one small date?
The weight is right at 2.5 grams for either.
Normally it’s easier if you post one coin per post or it gets confusing for the experts (and dummies like me) to give advice.

BEWARE of "NGC & PCGS" coins in auctions that say this....
..." Your winning item will match the quality of the product shown. "
In other words they do NOT have the coin shown! No doubt picture stolen from the Internet. If they have a legit PCGS or NGC coin they will show the holder and serial number.

It's a scratch and the metal is raised on one side of this because the "pushed" metal has to go somewhere.
