Re: Found a cound in junk silver need help identifying
You talk just like one of my uncles, full of themselves in their speech, constantly correcting, being vague and speaking in riddles and metaphors and poetically. It serves no purpose and creates lengthy dialogues that are not required to convey a meaning. As he does, you think highly of your oratory...

Re: Byzantine20 Nummi
If you can find an online source for value, unless a coin is ~150.00 in value, its not worth paying the fees to have it slabbed. If there are no ancient collectors that can help here, try coincommunityforum.com - they have an amazing group of ancient coin specialists who will be more than capable of...

Re: To dip or not to dip (not about snuff)
Never dip or play with copper coins. If your coin has not been cleaned already and is in mint state, then you can dip and rinse then pat dry the coin. I do this to at least one coin before submitting batches of coins without any harm to the coin.

Re: 1887 s Morgan dollar unknown mint error
Welcome Josh.
IMO this is just damage. The S took a hit and was mushed a bit. I am not a Morgan specialist and gave up identifying VAMs awhile ago. But this resembles damage I have seen on countless coins.

Re: Found coins in my own collection.
If I can make a suggestion........ :eureka: If/When you are selling "Raw" (not encapsulated) coinage,....... you place the coin in a flip, staple all 4 sides, and then on the reverse, use a unique color nail polish to seal the staple ends. You must also state in your listing, that if the ...

Re: Graded Coins
I tend to see the situation as there being two hobbies. Some people collect the coins. Some people collect the coins+slab+label. As long as people understand exactly what you sated about the grade being generally correct, then they will be able to make smarter decisions. Since a hobby is about what ...

Re: To dip or not to dip (not about snuff)
REMEMBER : They can't get a grade if dipped . You can't pass one on these guys . They use strong microscopes and see all . Don't know how but they are good. They are highly trained to spot certain things . Sorry to disagree Sal, but a couple things need changed: First they do not use powerful micro...

Re: 1s this considered a double die
We need closer pictures, and it would be good to have you tell/show the specific area of the coin you believe to be doubled. However, here is a visual help for the most common kind of doubling found on coins called machine/push/mechanical doubling. It adds no value. Note the first pic also illustrat...

Re: Errors 1983 ?
The current pics make me think someone set this on a surface and hit the front with something else like a hammer or other tool to make the damaged area. A general rule of thumb is that if you can think of a way to duplicate the look with tools in the garage...then its most likely someone beat you to...

1972 Kennedy No FG
All right, guys. I have a 1972 Kennedy Half Dollar I need your opinions on. I remember Daniel talking about this one, but for the life of me I don't remember whether he said that it would still be considered a No FG if it was faint (and I do mean faint, here) or if there could not be any trace of it...
