Re: Coin Attribution

That is a good question.... Each organization has their own guidelines to determine "What" qualifies as a VARIETY. Keep in mind, that the submission and recognition of an error by one group may not be accepted by another...... there is also the "Trickle Down Effect", where it ta...

Re: Die Brakes, Die chips

Hum... I can say this it cost up to $70 to send one error coins in to PCGS and the other two are not much further behind that. So if they're sending in those tiny errors then they're paying more for grading than they are for the coin's potential value. I did a video on this subject https://youtu.be/...

Re: error-variety listed one site and deleted from another

If PCGS or NGC doesn't have it listed then they will not label it, so the difference between these two sites is moot based on that. Not all experts agree on everything.

Re: error-variety listed one site and deleted from another

I agree with Daniel but will add that ANACS will attribute coins based on the variety attribution you list on the request form. And there are other controversial varieties that have been demoted on one site but remain on another or is only listed on one site. 1956 D/S comes to mind. Coopercoins has ...

The red tint is reflection the coin is blast white and looks proof like, so would sell for a nice premium. Nice coin!

Re: 1968 proof

The coin is not a proof must has an S mint mark to be a proof for this year and I don't see a DD and no mint mark anywhere else. This is a spendable, business strike cent.

This might make you feel better. happydance: ... Or not? All 1988's have a wide A M. It is the shape and position of the designers initials (G) on the RDV-006 that is the bugger to find. A few reverse dies intended to be used in 1989 were used early, in the production of a small portion of 1988 Linc...

It's important to keep in mind that dates such as 1982 (which have a variety of planchet compositions) can have the information jumbled up on the TPG's websites....... as with many other coins and their inaccuracies.

Matte finish coins started in 2005 so coins before that in mint sets are business strike and the TPGS know which are matte and which are not. Sounds like a miscommunication thing.
