Re: 1843 Seated Dollar - Old PCI holder

My initial thoughts using the second pics would be AU... 1. Except that damage on the REV is very pronounced. It IS damage correct, and not staining? I really like the looks of the REV - nice and sharp. 2. The wear on the OBV on all the high points just looks too severe to me to make it over XF. Now...

Re: 1843 Seated Dollar - Old PCI holder

The reverse on seated coins always looks a bit higher than the obverse because the obverse design is a little higher in relief thus wears first. So the coin is EF.

Re: 1900 - P Morgan Dollar graded in old holder MS65

I personally wouldn't chance it . I give it a MS-65 as well . I see No trace of wear except a few surface mars . Full luster. On the reverse I see 2 small "die cracks" at the top of the coin . One is across "States" and the other one across the Eagles left wing .

Re: 1900 - P Morgan Dollar graded in old holder MS65

Unless this just came out of a collection off the market for 40yrs I would leave it be...almost any under-graded early slabs have already been resubmitted and the ones left are already spot on.. looking at the coin in my armchair opinion it might get a 65+ in reconsideration if the grader feels gene...

Re: If I submit a coin to a grading company and perceive there is an error

You pay them no matter what they do with your perceived error, there's not refund of any fees. You take the chance of sending a mint error and you must submit it under their mint error tier and that is more expensive than a regular submission. Grading companies don't look for errors for your for not...

Re: 2021 S Morgan Dollar error on Liberty's neck?

It's too minor to worry about, unless more are found and an experts comes up with a fancy name.

Re: Actual Numbered Grade Vs BU and Gem BU

Is it just like something different to put on the holder like the names of collections, etc? Or maybe a break (for the graders) to making a precise grade. 😉

Always fun looking at a gold coin! Thanks for sharing. ...if we hit a recession just like in 2008. I understand there are other factors as well, but during an election cycle, it is not har...

Re: 1900 $10 PCGS MS63

I admit as time has progressed I have dropped collecting most clad coins. Part of that was b/c I lost interest when all the multiple quarter designs per year became the norm (the intrigue of a new design dies for me). The books full of these that were so popular at the time (and it was a good idea t...

...I've only collected older clad stuff like wheat cents, buffalo nickels etc but nothing modern really. Oops...nickels are not clad. The word clad does not apply to pennies before the time they started to be made with a zinc core. No nickels are clad. The word clad means the coin has an inner core ...

Re: 1878-CC Morgan Dollar

Recently acquired this 1878 Morgan Dollar minted in Carson City. In looking at it closely, it appears cleaned. Thoughts on how much one could get for a cleaned coin? Did you buy it if you don't mind me asking? I think approx. $100 or less but it will be hard to sell because it's "Harshly Clean...
