A head of Liberty faces left, wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY. Above, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST with the date below. The left obverse field has seven stars near the border with six more along the right border. The reverse has an eagle with wings spread, holding an olive branch and three arrows. The statutory legend is above and the denomination is below, with E PLURIBUS UNUM in the field above the eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge.
