1773 Virginia Halfpenny
The copper Halfpenny was authorized in 1773 by the Crown as coinage for Virginia. Although the denomination was a halfpenny there were a proof "Penny" and a silver shilling minted and they command high premiums. The silver shilling is believed to have been a pattern.
