William Pitt, who loved America, is the subject of the medelats and where probably intended as a commemorative for his sake. The medals where all struck in brass and copper and in the denominations of farthing and halfpenny. Some halfpenny Pitt Tokens where "silvered", which is coating or adding a clad layer to the coin.
