Higley or Granby Coppers
The Higley or Granby Coppers derived their name by their maker Dr. Samuel who mined the copper for the planchets near Granby, Connecticut. The coins were never officially authorized as coinage, and were made of pure copper. There exist several different varieties all dated 1737 and one in 1739 with the denomination of threepence or VALUE ME AS YOU PLEASE. Electrotypes and cast reproductions do exists. (Note: All values are for coins in Good or (G) grade unless otherwise stated. Also, coins in better grade or shape will trade for a higher premium.)
