French New World Issues
Coinage of 1721-1722
The edict of Louis XV dated 1921 authorized the 1721-1722 copper coinage for the colonies. Of the 534,000 struck only about 8,180 were used in circulation because the colonists didn't like copper coins. In 1726 the rest of the coins were sent back to France.
