Dear All,
Recently, I looked back over some Silver Dollars that belonged to my grandfather. He collected some coins and I went around to shows, pawn shops, etc. with him as a kid.
It was always a great time because he also knew the history of the coins we saw or any for which he was looking. So, when my kids asked about the coins "in the glass" we decided to take a closer look. Brought up some great history stories. All but two are identifiable through my research. These two coins appear to be Morgans (they are on weight), but with some significant differences. We are aware that many Morgans are not official tender and only hold melt value. These two differ from any of the other Morgans we could find.
They both have 21 stars around the bust, do not say E Pluribus Unum and have no date--yes, we know THAT is not uncommon. One of them has the commonly found balance scales and says One Troy Ounce Silver Trade Unit. The other one we cannot figure out has a flying eagle over the laurel wreath and is carrying a flag in its beak.
Might anyone know about either of these and be willing to educate us?
Kind Regards
Newbie Trying to Research
