Silver Color Penny Found With errors

#1 Unread post by rfeast »

While searching through my grandfather's collections of wheat pennies, I came across this silver colored penny. I can not make out a date on the coin and the reverse is not a wheat cent. It is not magnetic and weighs 3 grams according to my scale. It looks like it has been stamped on a wrong planchet from the rim of the coin. I can see much more detail under my microscope but haven't figured out how to get a good picture with it. I did some research on the internet but have not seen anything like this out there. Just wandering if it is worth having someone take a closer look at it. Thank you for your assistance. Rich

Many were plated in the past to use as jewelry. There are also vids online of how to turn a cent a silver color and also a gold color. This could not have happened at the mint and therefore is not a mint error. Its just a damaged coin.
