1864 2 Cent small motto find
Hey everyone . One more story . In 2004 , I decided to detect one morning by myself at an old site that was supposedly hunted out (yea right ) .
It was a dewy morning and a little humid . Anyways, I started detecting the areas of a cellar hole in hard to hunt areas and around the perimeter. Just one old button and a lot of grape shot. On my final pass, I detected the area where the Entrance / Exit was to the root cellar .It was a difficult area because it was on a slope .
After digging about a dozen pieces of lead, I was stressed . On my what was to be my time there that day, I finally got a nice Dime signal . I thought Seated dime ! As I dug slowly and carefully, I pinpointed the target. I held in my hands a small disk . At first I thought it was a shield nickel . Nope to high of a signal. I brushed off some dirt on both sides and revealed a magnificent 2 ! It was this 2 cent and a small motto as well. Shaking nervously, I trotted to the car and put it in some water and continued to hunt.
After 20 minutes, I couldn't detect anymore . That coin was on my mind. I headed home to examine it better and to tell my friends who passed this trip up . Sure enough after looking at it for awhile , it sunk in. My first and only rare small motto !
Notice the D in God is the same height as the the O . The BOTTOM of the first T was touching the banner .In the Large Motto the D is bigger than the O . There is a space between the T and the banner . There are actually 11 differences between the large and small motto, but these two are the easiest to spot .
Thanks for viewing. Happy trails. lol

They don't touch on neither and when there's corrosion on a coin there can be confusion, looks like two different coins here. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/186 ... to-bn/3579

UPDATE : new picture Of the T .
Ok , thanks Daniel .When I first looked at it back then, it did come very close to the ribbon on the bottom of the T . See how on the bottom of the last T has a Horizontal line .The D is definitely small . So, what's the next step ? attachment=1]1864 2C -sm motto-Obv - Copy.jpg[/attachment]

Looking at the G in God, the angle of the G's horizontal member, at least to me, makes an obvious marker as well.
Common grading company shortcomings & resulting co$tly mi$take$ to collectors (using Kennedy No FG halves):

My pic. don't do the coin justice. It's all Patina over Copper . It's real shiny though . Not much corrosion . The tails of the Ribbon are curved on he Small also. Plus something about the Berries . :dunno widegrin

I couldn't tell which coin was your coin, didn't say it wasn't, just needed to see the actual coin not comparison images. It's a completely different font of all letters.
