Mysterious 1972D Quarter

#1 Unread post by Critterbob » Sat May 23, 2020 1:46 pm

Hello everyone. I need some help with an odd 1972D quarter. Here's the story - edited for clarification.

I purchased 2 rolls of saved from melt silver quarters from Daniel. I enjoyed going through these and got to add some to my original collection book I had as a kid. But then, I came upon a 1972D, which of course was not silver. The rim has no copper layer. It is not magnetic. It weighs 5.54 grams.

Here are some pictures of this coin. I would greatly appreciate anyone's opinion and ideas on what this might be. It's got me stumped.

As far as the weight your coins are with in mint specs. Going to have to wait until those with more knowledge then me comment on the rest, I just know the weights,

Someone will have to look at this in person, posting images of other coin just confuses things.

Thanks on that. I edited and kept just the images of the coin in question. I'm new to the community and appreciate your advice for posts.

This 1972 D Washington Quarter, appears to be covered in some type of "Translucent White Film".....
....... possibly covering the 'Copper Edge Coloring' you are looking for
