1999 Possible Double Die Find

#1 Unread post by JRhodes757 » Sun Jul 14, 2019 12:09 am

So I been going through a few of my 1999 coins today with my telescope and found one out of them all that was totally off and kind of a mystery to me. I was hoping to get some help with knowing what I found. As rolled through some looking for the AM marks to see which ones had the Wide AM I cam across one in particular. It was of course one with the Close AM together and I was like it's a whatever coin, then I started noticing that this particular coin had a weird shadowing effect going on. But then I looked closer at it and it was not shadows. It looks like the coin was double tapped. It's very visible at that too. America has all signs of the doubling impression, the time of the F for of, and then I scrolled over to states to see what's going on and every last letter towards the top shows a doubling effect.

It's mechanical doubling and this is very common. It all doesn't look exactly alike but it's all mechanical and doesn't add any value https://coinauctionshelp.com/strike-dou ... ne-damage/

That post did help a lot, thank you so much. Still a pretty cool find IMO. I'm keeping this one for my personal collection because I've not come across another one like this, well at least not until this day. Thanks you so much.
