question about this Pansa Denarius

#1 Unread post by RomanGreekCoins » Tue May 15, 2018 11:20 pm

This should be silver. So why is all this patina on it? ( as if it was bronze?)

is it artificial/modern patina?)

is this prove its not genuine?
and this isnt the first denarius i found like this....
or it everything real?

thanks

lol: If you were stuck in the ground for 2100 years, you might look a little blotchy, as well.

Patina usually refers to bronze coins. Silver tarnishes. To me, this coin just looks a little less cleaned than most silver coins. A quick dip should return it to the silver you see most often.
