Possible 1958-D Die Clash
I found the following coin today which looks like it has some lettering going over parts of the lower portion of the device and date, not completely sure that is what it is. I have looked at over 70,000 wheat cents as well as a large amount of memorial cents and have never seen anything exactly like it. At this point I am just interested to figure out what it is, or isn't. I found it using a x10 triplet loupe. The lettering I am seeing is a lot more legible in hand than in the photos.
Thanks
Claude

The more I think of it , It could be a Lamination error.

Re: Possible 1958-D Die Clash
My assessment from the pics - difficult:
The pics make it look as if the bottom digits in the date have not been flattened out as if by impact to this area. Yet the pics also show Lincoln/s lapel and immediately to the right of the shoulder have, at least abrasion marks which may or may not be related
I also am not sure if the pics are showing a slight "wonkiness' (borrowed word from member KBecker) in the word ONE's surrounding fields, or if its the lighting, which might indicate impact to the OBV b/c ONE would be directly on the flip side of the coin from the affected area.
If not an old impact - then possibly an old lamination peel as Sal has said...yet the digits look strong in the "peeled" area. Peeled before being struck?
Sorry - best I can do fro the pics.

It's not lettering, that does not happen during the minting process like that.

I've looked at these images several times now....
Possible "Minor Lam Before Strike"?...... using these images for attribution
........ It's so small and inconsequential, I don't see any added value here

Re: Possible 1958-D Die Clash
I do know it's not from an edge of a dime or anything, if it were it would've affected the date has well, the numbers on the date are without any issue. With what I have available for getting "close up" photos, I don't think I could do any better. If I had a USB scope which I don't and don't have money for I could get better photos. I just have one of those things you clip onto a phone that Coin World sells on their Amos Advantage website for taking closer up images.
Like Earle said, the digit is strong in that area.

Re: Possible 1958-D Die Clash
I think the main benefit that I would get out of a scope is I could just view the coin in a bit of a larger size on my screen in clear high definition. I have whatever the eye sight disorder is where the closer you look at something, including with magnification, the harder it gets to see. Some times when using a loupe it gets to the point to where I can't read anything unless it is something like a street sign when driving.

@CoinMule:
Still problems seeing some of your pics:
Following is what your post looks like in two different browsers I opened. Note the first pic is not there. The first pic is typical of your posts in both my browsers that I tested. Did you attach these differently?

Re: Possible 1958-D Die Clash
Hi Coin Mule,
Thank you for letting me know about this app. It will definitely help me a lot. I am using a Samsung galaxy s8 currently.
Now one thing I need to find is a good tripod for my phone, one other issue I deal with is I get really bad tremors in my hands.
Thanks again.
