1985D dime - Where to even start?

#1 Unread post by KBecker »

I'm still pretty new - I've begun to learn about "planchet errors", "Die Caps", "broadstrikes", etc... but not enough to even know where to start on this 1985D dime, aside from seeing much obvious wonkyness. The coin itself is in pretty clean condition but I'd appreciate any help/education that more knowledgeable and experienced eyes can share on what exactly is going on with this bad boy. Thanks as always, gang!

Besides being my H.S graduation year, This dime appears to be naturally worn and possible spent some time in a commercial dryer . I could be wrong . It's really hard to guess.

My graduation year too! I'll put it aside with the other "maybe something, but don't quit the day job just yet" candidates. Thanks!

It's a normal circulated dime with some die deterioration issues.

This dime is an example of the 1985-D MOW Variety (Much Obvious Wonkiness)...

Please take post in the good hearted nature meant. I really enjoyed and chuckled at your terminology enough that all I could picture in my mind was a slabbed coin with a label using declaring it as the MOW variety :))

I agree with Daniel.
