1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Our community is not a soap box for complaining or drama, so please refrain from doing so here.[/size]

1962 Nickel weirdest coin front n back
Please forgive me since I tried my camera with my phone but no luck. I had to use my computer camera so you can at least see something. If anyone can help me with finding a great camera I would be most thankful. Now to the coin, everything, except the five cents on the back side, looks like it has been hit with the die several times over. Some look like steps inside and outside of the letters. I'm not sure what to call this and wondering if it's common. Since I don't know what to call it, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what happened. Any information would be helpful. The first picture is of the 2 in the date and the second one of the 6.

....... you will get better images if you move further away from the surface of your coin.
:eureka:
Lighting is a key factor here also........ I would suggest that you practice with all different kinds of angles and lighting
I can't really see what your asking about in your images, sorry

Thank you for the info. When I bought my microscope and camera they said that I could take pictures with various magnifications but that wasn't to be. It only has one power and that is 100x. I don't have a stand for the camera and not sure if they even make one for it. Oh well, I'll just have to look around for another one. I tried using my moto G5 phone but I can't hold it still enough. I just have to get everything in order. I'll be back.

Re: 1962 Nickel weirdest coin front n back UPDATE
Hello again. I hope these pictures will give you all enough clues on what's going on with this coin. The 62, 19 and TY are from the front. The other two are from the back. I have more but I'm hoping that these will be sufficient. If not I will post more. Thank you all for your time and patience. And a special thank you goes to Paul for the advice he gave me.

Your pictures are much better this time.... hugeeyes :trophy:
:eureka:
Keep in mind, when you're using any imaging device for 'extreme' close-ups such as yours, it is imperative that you remove the coin from the cardboard flip.
I see what's called "Mechanical Doubling" in your last set of images.

Re: 1962 Nickel weirdest coin front n back
Thank you. I guess once I realized that I had my microscope on 3X instead of 1X it does make a difference. I'm still a little rusty with all of this but seem to be catching on fairly good now. I've almost finished my first box of penny's, just have 5 more to go through. Thank you for your help. I will get better at this.
