1997 P Washington Quarter

On the obverse of this coin just in front of Washington's eye is filled ,looks like a evenly filled smooth area. A bit different than typical die chips. See what you think

I think it is PMD. From the photo you posted first clue is the large missing portion of his head to just above his eye. Other than that.

I am agreeing more with Daniel its more of a die chip that happened to fill the area in a smooth fashion around that area, its not PMD . just a unusual die chip.
