Morgan dollars (1901 O), to have graded or not
Hello all,
I have four Morgan dollars I am thinking of having graded. Well, three really, I don't think the stained one should be (I don't think that is toning on it). I am posting images of the front and back of each coin. I have never had anything graded before and I can see with these coins there is a good chance that it is simply not worth it if you are not going to get a higher end grade. Please let me know what you think or if I need to provide different images. Thank you for your time.

I am under the impression that if I wanted to sell some or all of them it would be better to have them graded. I have heard over and over that grade and having more of a certainty that they are not fake (I know they still could be) would help. I could be wrong about that though. If I could get the same outcome without having them graded I would not bother with it.

I am not certain if it matters as much if I were to want to trade for other coins, but I would guess so. That would probably depend on what you are trying to get and who you are trading with though. Some of the want for grading may even stem from a standpoint of self protection. I have no idea what these would grade out as. I think that if I were to guess I would be grossly overestimating where they sit on the scale. If I have no real idea of what I have, it will be difficult to do anything other than keep them in my small (but growing) collection.

Thank You.....
In case you did not know, I do not "Grade" coins online. I personally do not believe "Photograding" is possible (it's a 2 dimensional image)

I can understand why you have that stance on it. I was looking more for a "You have a shot of this being worth the effort." or a "Don't even bother, these will never grade high enough to be worth the effort of having it done.". I would never expect or for that matter trust someone saying that is a AU50 or MS63 just by looking at the images I can provide. Looking that the visual grading confuses my many times because I can look at a MS66 and think "Wow! My coin is better that that for sure". Then look at the AU50 and think "That may be better than what I have".

Re: Morgan dollars (1901 O), to have graded or not
Depends on how good the photograph is, if it's hi-res and at different angles it can be used to give a grade. However, a 1901 0 Morgan is very common and all one needs to do is look up the values and compare fees to see if it's worth it. Once thing that I can say it looks MS64 but you can never tell if a coin is going to be MS66 or most grades based on posted images. So saying the coin is MS and not worth grading is most appropriate.

Thank you for the reply. I guess I should have been more clear. Those are the pics for four coins, a front and back for each. I do not think that changes what you said. They are close to being worth it, but most likely won't get there.
