GR Counterstamp / Countermark on Britain 1/2 penny 1737

Hello - I was hoping someone might have insight into a countermarked coin:

it's a 1737 british 1/2p that's been counterstamped with "GR" multiple times. From what I can find, "GR" was used as a stamp for Jamaican coins, but what I see is only silver pieces were stamped and usually of Spanish/Mexican origin.

However, the piece in question seems to be a proper government counterstamp rather than private business names as sometimes seen - also the fact that it was stamped upto 7 times. The "GR" is ornate but not quite as ornate as in the official Jamaican silver pieces. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's a cool looking coin but I can't help with this one. Counter stamps rarely mean anything special and are just historical marks of interest on a coin.
