Ancient Coin Information

#1 Unread post by Rosco53 »

Hello all! First post on this forum, have been mostly on treasure.net as I mainly CRH, but after a coin show and local flea market yielded some older coins, starting to consider getting into ancient coins a little. However, in an effort to not waste too much money (purchased an "Ancient Roman" coin that, upon research, turned out to be an 1660's Polish one, still cool but...), I realize that I need to educate myself a bit more first (and show restraint...). To that end, was curious which books or site would be recommended for getting into Ancient coins? Looked on Amazon/Ebay, saw Klawan's Guidebook to Roman/Greek Coins, as well as "Collecting Ancient Coins" from Sayles, just wondering if anyone had those and their thoughts, or which ones are recommended. Kinda looking to do this on a budget, so Sear's collection is currently out of the question ;-). Thanks in advance for any information! Have a good one!

Welcome Roscoe. Glad to see you made it.

Paul speaks volumes when referring to Mark (MHonzell) being the resident guru on ancients.
He has a lot on his plate, like Daniel the site owner, so it may take a little time for a reply.
