It's die deterioration and circulation issues. Please look the coins up at Wexler's doubled dies to find a match it will save you a bunch of time.

Nice clear images. Extreme die deterioration.
Lots and lots of die deterioration. As an example, if you look at the RI of AMERICA.
Left side of the R has strong die flow lines (diagonal lines from the field to the top of the device) and the I has the same line on both sides on the top.
