This is a surface anomaly, that your scope has picked up, and looks like a "D" on your monitor.

Your picture is a bit fuzzy to determine if it is a blister or a bubble, if it is that.
It could possibly be some surface gunk that looks like a mint mark.

What does this area look like on your monitor as you spin the coin?

Here's a clearer pic, it seem to stay the same as I turn the coin.

To me that closeup looks like it might be a plating blister or the beginnings of zinc rot.

I am going to give you a fact and not my opinion. The US Mint stopped hand punching mint marks into the dies after 1989 so repunched and over mint marks no longer exist and neither do misplaced mint marks. So what you're seeing is a shape that might look similar to a mint mark to you but is actually something with the plating or hit on the coin or a burst plating bubble.

No die has been created with a mint mark in this area of the coin, it can't be, the master hub is created from a reducing lathe up to 2008. If a mint mark was accidentally placed on this area of the Master Hub then it would have created several Master dies with this mint mark since it is the master hub that begins the process of creating all subsequent dies.

Thank you Daniel, I just asked about this coin because the 2001 Coin Set beared the Mint Marks P and D on the Lincoln Cent, Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel, Kennedy Half Dollar and the Golden Dollar. My thoughts were a fallen Mint Mark, but I'm still learning.

The Lincoln Cent never had a P mint mark except 2017, and if there was a dropped letter or mint mark then the die would have had the mint mark in the first place. It would have struck the coin in the normal position. Also it would be the exact shape and size as the dropped digit or letter and that is not the case with your coin.
