99P Wide AM?

... I just looked up the reverse doubling for the '99 LC

there are quite a few "catalogued", minor 'doubled columns' varieties listed, only showing a very minor premium.

Beautiful coin. Mine definitely has more separation than a close am.like 3 to 4 times as much separation. But it isn't as much as the one in your image. Just slightly less I would say. Don't know where to go from there.??? After looking at many more coins in different years, it seems the doubling I am seeing in the columns is common.

Just reading at http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/coins ... penny.html

It seems, according to the poster on this page that some wide am business strike coins we're struck with a proof die. I compared images of the proof wide to biz wide and there is a difference in the width according to my eyes. I will try to get a good image of the initials and post it.

That isnt no wide AM u dont have the separation between the M and the E

After looking at the initials and comparing to a close am, I have to agree. This is just like the close am But I still have questions about this coin and would appreciate any help. If you will look at the images I have included, you will see two coins in each. The one closest to you is a normal close am. The other one below is my coin. Please notice the letters in America and States and of. They are different. The horizontal parts of each letter are finer. Not beefy like the coin closest to you. The bottom of the E is really strange looking compared to the upper coin. What would cause this? Just a different die? I know they change them. Thanks in advance

It is caused by die deterioration but is still the normal close AM design.
